IoBNT Project Meeting at DFKI in Kaiserslautern

The latest project meeting of the Internet of Bio-Nano-Things (IoBNT) consortium took place on October 8–9, 2026, hosted by the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Kaiserslautern. The meeting brought together the project partners to present recent research progress and discuss the next steps towards an integrated communication platform connecting biological systems with future 6G+ networks.

FAU was represented by Timo Jakumeit (IDC), Daniela Wegner (BVT), Paul Wolff (LITES), Prof. Jens Kirchner (LITES), and Prof. Kathrin Castiglione (BVT). Timo, Daniela, and Paul presented their latest research contributions to the project. The technical program was complemented by guest talks from Prof. Michael Schroda, Professor of Molecular Biotechnology and Systems Biology at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, and Prof. Marcel Deponte, Professor of Biochemistry at RPTU.

Beyond the scientific discussions, a social dinner at the historic Spinnrädl in Kaiserslautern provided another opportunity for exchange among the project partners. Many thanks to DFKI for hosting the meeting and to all participants and speakers for the productive discussions!
