Lukas Brand is now a “Dr.-Ing.”!
We are pleased to announce that IDC member Lukas Brand successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on December 19, 2025, thereby earning the degree of Dr.-Ing.
In his thesis, ‘Modelling and Evaluation of Molecular Communication Systems,’ Lukas addressed several key challenges in the emerging research field of molecular communication. His work introduced new theoretical models for transmitters and modulation schemes, which were also verified experimentally, as well as novel performance metrics. In addition, he investigated the application of semantic information theory to molecular communication systems.
Lukas was part of the collaborative research project ‘Medienmodulationsbasierte Molekulare Kommunikation’ and is an associate member of the Research Training Group (GRK) ‘SyMoCADS‘. He was supervised by Prof. Robert Schober.
